Marvin Cornelius Thomas
Marvin Cornelius Thomas, 81, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Hospice Savannah with his family by his side. He was born January 30, 1932 to the late Edward Colen Thomas and Emmie Jones Thomas. Marvin graduated from Savannah High School and Southern Tech in Marietta, GA. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Savannah Paint Manufacturing Company for over 30 years and became a partner.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loving husband to his wife of 62 years, Mitzi Mears Thomas.
One of his greatest passions was the game of golf, and he enjoyed playing at Savannah Golf Club and Bacon Park where he has many great friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Mears Thomas, son, Craig Thomas Angela, daughter, Lisa Linton Chuck, three grandchildren, Steven Mears Thomas, Lauren Dempsey Hinkle Ben, Scott Dempsey Stephanie, two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Luke Dempsey, and sister, Ernestine Underwood.
Marvin was an active member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church and a member of the Exchange Club.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416, or a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank Dr.'s Sentman, Gainer, Christian, and also Fresenius Dialysis Clinic for the great care extended to him.
